About Us
Rooted in Sierra Leone. Crafted with Love.
Every piece of Sannoh Batik begins with a story — one that stretches from the vibrant markets of Kenema, Sierra Leone, to the hands that carefully stitch, quilt, and craft each item you hold.
Sannoh Batik was founded by Sadia Webb, a British-Sierra Leonean designer whose roots run deep in West African heritage. Growing up connected to the rhythms, colours, and textures of Sierra Leone, Sadia was drawn to the ancient art of batik — a craft that has been passed down through generations across West Africa, each piece telling its own story through pattern and colour.
The Craft
Batik is more than a fabric — it is a tradition. Using wax-resist dyeing techniques refined over centuries, West African artisans create the bold, intricate patterns that give our fabrics their unmistakable character. The rich golds and warm yellows that run through our collections are no accident: yellow is the colour of African sunshine, of warmth, of welcome.
Every Sannoh Batik piece is handmade and quilted, honouring the artisan traditions that inspired them. Many of our pieces are made-to-order, meaning your bag, cushion, tech case, headtie, or wrap is created specifically for you — never mass-produced, always intentional.
The Collections
Our collections are named after the Chiefdoms of Pujehun, a district in southern Sierra Leone close to Sadia's heart. Organised by 'generations', each collection represents a chapter in an ongoing story — a living archive of heritage, craft, and identity. To own a piece from a Sannoh Batik generation is to carry a fragment of that story with you.
Our Promise
We believe in slow fashion, in pieces that last, and in the hands that make them. Every item is handcrafted with care, using authentic West African batik fabrics sourced with respect for the artisans and communities behind them. When you invest in Sannoh Batik, you are not just buying a beautiful object — you are supporting a tradition, a heritage, and a vision for what fashion can be.
Meet Sadia
Sadia Webb is a designer, storyteller, and proud daughter of Sierra Leone. Her vision for Sannoh Batik has always been simple: to bring the beauty of West African craft to the world, without losing the soul of where it comes from. Each collection is a love letter to Kenema, to the Pujehun Chiefdoms, and to every artisan whose hands have shaped this tradition.
Thank you for being part of the story.
